Libia Alejandra Garcia Flores

Libia Alejandra Garcia Flores obtained her undergraduate degree in Nutrition in 2010 from the University Veracruzana, Mexico. From 2011 to 2012 she completed her master's degree in Nutrition and Metabolism taught by Universitat Rovira i Virgili and Universitat de Barcelona in collaboration with the Universitat de les Illes Balears. She subsequently obtained a predoctoral fellowship from Spanish Ministry of Economy, Industry, and Competitiveness. She is currently preparing her Doctoral Thesis in the Department of Food Science and Technology, CEBAS-CSIC, Murcia, Spain.  Her current research is an assessment of functional beverage consumption among elite triathletes: oxidative stress, vascular biomarkers, inflammation, mutagenesis, and degeneration of the nervous system. She visited the Wheelock lab during August-November 2016. During that period, she performed lipid mediator profiling in urine samples from dietary intervention study where effects of polyphenols-rich juice supplementation and elite triathlon training were studied.
